Central Hinds (91-8 in 20 overs) lost to Auckland Hearts (94-3 in 13.3 overs) by seven wickets at Bert Sutcliffe Oval
The Hearts put on a powerful display with the ball to restrict the Hinds to just 91 from their 20 overs, which seemed below par on a BSO track that's produced plenty of runs in the last three days. Bella Armstrong lead the charge with 3-18 from her four overs, including Hinds skipper Anlo van Deventer, who missed a straight delivery, LBW for 24.
The only other batter to offer meaningful resistance was Mikaela Greig, who took it to the Hearts attack in the last few overs to grab 39 from 29 including a sweetly struck six down the ground from Armstrong in the 19th, to help the Hinds battle through to 91-8.
Sara McGlashan did not mess around when she came to the wicket at first drop after Anna Peterson was stumped by Natalie Dodd for one. McGlashan showed the full range of shots, smacking ten fours all around the ground and a big six over mid wicket from Jess Watkin. Tahlia Wilson (18) and Katie Perkins (11) were reduced to supporting players as McGlashan rushed to 62 from 38 balls not out to give her side the win in the 14th over. It was a dominant team performance that showed the Hearts will be tough to beat when Burger King Super Smash resumes on December 22.
